Life has been a little topsy turvy. Where does one start?
Hmm. Ponies.
All are well. Woody has been giving Alice rides to and from the field, and is officially the biggest 1st pony ever. She is uber docile. Alice pats her and screams with laughter. Merlyn is traumatised due to some landscaping at home and he thinks the field is a safe place, and in the stable he may be eaten alive. Bah humbug- aged 22 you would think he may mellow? Currently stuffing his face with haylage to soothe the trauma of being able to see lillies from his stable. Alby remains lovely, feral and rather yellow tinged. He has been suffering with the flies eating him, but despite repeated calm attempts to put on a fly mask- it hasn't happened. he is just too head shy. However he now confidently eats carrots out my hand which is nice.
Home is looking rather exciting. I now have my own vegetable patch, which thrills me more than you would imagine! I have planted- tomatoes, chilli's, courgettes, strawberries, chives, lettuce, sweet peas and something else that escapes me. Along side the chickens we may become self sufficient one day... or not!
We have piped all the stream along the menage and dug out a pond. And put in 110 fish today, lillies and some rush things. Much amusement. i looks really attractive in waders, and its obviously a recommended physio exercise for a one legged cripple. Suffice to say I am paying the price after turning round and relocating my knee cap in a rather grim manner. Thankfully I was given morphine for these predicaments.
There has been more decking put in around the menage, and I even weed killed the gravel today. One day, in the not too distant future we may have a perfect home. I love it.
Alice is very well. She won her baby beauty championships at a very quiet ( thank you god) presentation, and will appear in the paper shortly. We have put her portrait up in the lounge and I love it. Really nice. but slightly less joyfull is Alice's nursery which has swine flu. Arse.
In other news Mummyhmk is making steady progress which is very nice. So should be very much on her feet for my sisters wedding ( 5 weeks today!)
I visited my sister today who then had to dash of to tend to an emergency callout for an ill African Grey- that had been ill for a week, but the genius owner decided to call my sister at lunch on Saturday as it hadnt got better, or eaten for 6 days- so brought it into surgery where it promptly popped its clogs. Some owners are scarily lacking in common sense.
Then we came home for all the house odds and ends and Mrhmk went out with 'the lads' and I did the most evil final parts for a tender due in on Monday. is it wrong that I am at my most productive post 9pm on a Saturday night with a couple of glasses of wine in me?
So thats all folks. This time next week I will have my bionic knee in place. I will then recover uber fast to go for drinks for my instructors engagement 6 days after surgery, and a wedding the following day.
I shall obviously be riding within the month too......

What a week
We have managed to accomplish a staggering number of things this week. One of our finer achievements was whilst piping the stream cutting through the neighbours BT line. We don't particularly like the neighbours. Their children poke our dogs with sticks through the fence, and they asked me to make the horses quieter at night as their breathing was disturbing them. Err. Ok . I will just ask them not to breathe overnight.
So you can imagine my delight when Team BT turned up to tell me the neighbours thought we had cut through their lines. I denied any such line severing, until they told me the line was the width of a biro, and ran under my back garden and along the stream. Oops. So indeed we had cut through it when excavating with a JCB. Arse.
So a little later Team BT had found the break and repaired it, and I felt rather silly. I thought that phone lines ran overground. This is probably a good reason why I shouldn't work for a phone company.
Then on Saturday 2 of my most loved friends got married. I have been looking forward to it for ages. She is perfect for him, they make a perfect couple, and will no doubt live happily ever after. As the wedding was only an hour away and didn't start until 3 we ran a few errands in the morning and then, obviously, got caught in traffic, changed frantically and broke many speed limits to arrive on time. Which we did. Just!
They day was complete success, stunning church, lovely reception at her parents place. Alice was so overstimulated she declined to have her afternoon nap, then played with the lovely people on our table who passed her around and were extremely good company. She even had a little dance on the dance floor until she fell fast asleep at 9pm and we headed home.
She slept in until 10.30am the next day- I think we wore her out. For those of you not on FB here is a link to some piccies-
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=131537&id=739650931&l=6c07c78de9
Then on Sunday we popped over to Glenfields hospital to visit Millar who was doing incredibly well post op, and should escape from hospital today. We also popped into ICU to drop some bits in for the nurses there and the nurse who looked after Alice was there, remembered us and was really happy to see her looking so well. It was really nice to see her- and a bit random as she had stopped working in ICU as it was pretty harrowing, and only agreed to come in that day as they were very very short staffed- and happened to bump into us.
And Sunday PM Mark helped me with the ponies. And we thought we would lead Alice around on Woody. Woody has as much go in her as a sloth, and an IQ of about 2. She is the most non offensive horse ever, as she just doesnt have the brain power to do anything other than what she is told. I find it irritating at times to be honest, she is uber dumb- but she looked after Alice so so well. Alice did some laps of the yard and menage held on by Mark. She was screaming with laughter and patting Woody. It was great. She looked quite sad when she got off, so we let her ride Woody to the field and give her a carrot, then she rode Merlyn to the field ( who tolerated her with his usual good grace- whilst looking at me as if I was mad), and then she sat on Alby, who wasn't so sure so she got taken off. But the seed has been sown- she does love her ponies! And I think Woody is ideal for small person prodding poking and sitting upon. So a great weekend for all xoxo

Oops
Today is in fact Wednesday. Not Thursday. Which I only realised after trying to go to the Hospital appointment Alice has on Thursday, today. Less said about that the better. I am very 'special'. So no grape update yet.
We went out for dinner with my parents at Prezzo in Warwick last night. They are staying for a couple of days then going back to Surrey. We had the nicest meal and such good service. And Alice was very grown up and ordered her dinner off the Bambino menu.
I had brought dinner along for her, and a drink- but after seeing the very nice kiddy menu though she may like to join in with Italian food. So she had some bruschetta to start which she loved- it barely touched the sides! Then they gave her some orange squash in a glass. She is too tiddly for glasses to I decided to empty the water out her beaker and let her try it in there. She hasn't had squash before. But as the toilets ( with sink to empty water into ) were upstairs I decided to be crafty and empty the 50ml of water in Alice's beaker into the plant pot next to where we were sat. Which would have been fine, if I had any subtlety. Alas I don't and despite my best attempts to water the plants furtively the ladies on the table next to us spotted me and laughed. Loudly. Oops.
Then Alice managed a huge portion of spaghetti bolognaise and some chocolate ice cream for pudding. She had a fabby time.
Alas I am at work today which is rather rubbish. I think I should be a lady of leisure. I think I would be good at it. I could quite happily spend my days playing with Alice, ponies, dining and getting my hair and nails done.
Instead I am trying to make head and tail of the mountain of paperwork that is slowly taking over my desk. Boo hiss. Its rather tempting to throw it out the window.Must. Resist.
So today Alice is looking at a nice house in Stratford with my parents- it has river frontage, but no room for ponies. So Dad is keen, and mum less so. I like Stratford so am encouraging them towards this house as I would love to come and visit them there. Its not too far from us at all.
And I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed for Millar today who is having her op. She is being very brave and should have it this afternoon. I rather impressively for someone so lacking in common sense have found a train route to get over to the hospital she is in, and will visit her on Friday. Its the same hospital that retrieved and saved Alice, so I think rather highly of them.
So she is in my thoughts today.
So thats all folks. I will go back tomorrow for Alice's grape investigating, and let you know how it goes

Child Genius
I went to get Alice out of bed this morning and the little monkey had managed to pull herself up the side of the cot and get into a kneeling position. Which in the world of tiny people is a BIG deal. Its the first time she has ever managed it. So hopefully she is getting stronger and closer to walking / crawling / something! The burning question is who will be most mobile for my sisters wedding in August. I think Alice is in the lead so far. Must. Try. Harder.
We are having work done at home at the moment. And have piped off more stream, and are currently digging a big hole, which will allegedly be filled with the outlaws .. sorry I mean water, and house fish. Which will be nice. I have taken some before photos and will do some after ones. Im looking forward to getting the place straight.
And tomorrow Alice is off to have her Grape ( growth on her back)scanned. Grape is behaving and hasn't moved/ grown / shrunk. We don't get to find out what Grape actually is tomorrow, as that would be far too sensible and convenient. Either the consultants at that hospital call us in ( less than perfect news) or the GP calls us in ( less frightening news). So we shall see.
Not a lot else to report. I am at home today tidying. Well I started tidying. Cleaned all the skirting, got tired, moved all the clutter around the bedroom and made a big mess. Oops. Need to resolve said mess prior to Mark coming home in 7 minutes to take Alice to nursery, and my parents arriving at 2pm. Im a rubbish domestic goddess.
So thats it. Im off to clean / hide rubbish xoxo

Le Weekend
Was very nice.
I was all packed and ready for my mystery weekend and we set off just before lunch on Saturday. And arrived at Bourton on the Water- a lovely little village in the Cotswolds. We were staying in a pretty B&B where we had a little cottage next to the Pub. Fabulous.
We started off having a lovely glass of wine in the garden ( which smelt amazing- full off honeysuckle) and then went for a drive around the area. So pretty - and really horse friendly. There were bridleways everywhere. I had a lot of envy- there are no bridleways really at home!
So we had a great meal that evening at the Pub, and Alice charmed the locals. Then we retired back to our little cottage that consisted of an open plan room with a bedroom and lounge, and a bathroom just off it. As Alice normally sleeps in her own room at home we decided to put her at the bottom of our bed in her travel cot. Her travel cot is a bizarre shaped mosquito proof contraption which is oval to look at from the side. much to Alice's disgust she gets zipped into it and expected to sleep. So we popped her in it and settled down into the lounge with a bottle of wine to watch CSI ( proper romantics aren't we..)
Only to find that as Alice was in an open plan room with us she had decided against sleeping, preferring to sit up and watch TV. We thought that if we ignored her she may nod off... ha blooming ha....She was dancing to the music, saying 'hiya' whenever a phone rang and trying to make a break for freedom out her cot. She realised that if she leaned on the oval shaped cot thingy then it rolled across the room. We had a free range child. Not using the cot in the manner in which the manufacturers intended it I fear. She was wild. Eventually she nodded off though, but it was a valiant effort from her.
And on Sunday we gave Mark his fathers day gifts ( gliding trip and framed foot prints and a poem from Alice) which he was very happy with. I have no intention of ever getting in a glider. Its my worst nightmare. But Mark is very enthusiastic, when questioned he said ' you only die once', true I suppose, but I like to try and avoid death. Scares the pants off me flying.
Then we went for a nice potter around the town, vising Birdland- where Alice got to watch the penguins and thought it was great.
And I managed to fins some beautiful glass coasters which I got terribly over excited about and bought a set for Mark and I and a set for some friends getting married this weekend. They are so so pretty. I'm going to see if they have website so everyone I know will be getting them for Birthdays / Christmas etc. I'm completely in love with them.
And unfortunately after such a great weekend I had to come back. Grr. But all was well at home and the ponies were well behaved in my absence. I think they like being feral.
And just as we had popped Alice to bed and cracked open the vino, our local farmer turned up to say he had a free day and would dig out the remaining stream area and pipe it. All that would be great if it didn't involve disconnecting the electrics for the field lights and arena lights and dismantling the fencing at 9 pm, on 3 legs ( 2 of Marks and 1 of mine) after a couple of glasses if wine. Comedy moments a plenty.
But we got it all done, and I even managed to convince the farmer to top and spray my fields for me tomorrow and let me pop my horses in one of his fields for a couple of weeks while the fields recovers from operation banish the dock leave. Barginous.
So a fun and productive weekend. I had a great time and am rather loathe to be at work today. Ho hum.

Day One
Well this is it. I have crossed over. Here is my new blog. I am slightly perturbed by the lack of emoticons, but I will persevere.
I have got my surgery date now- the 18th July. Which seems a long way off and perilously close to my sisters wedding. Eek. I then made the fatal mistake of googling my surgery and was met with lovely gory pictures, amazing statistics about failure, and all the things that could go wrong. I will never google again. Scared for life.
The horses are all well. I am trying to leave them out 24/7 and toughen them up, but as soon as the wind picks up or it drizzles I am straight out there whisking them back into the warmth of their stables. I am so weak. I cant imagine anyone elses retired / roughed off horses being fed like mine / not exposed to rain!
An all is well in the land of Alice too. She is at nursery today and looking forward to our mystery weekend away this weekend. Mark is taking us both somewhere. But I have no idea where. I'm hoping for somewhere with the word 'Spa' closely associated to it, failing that wine and good food come a close second.
So see you on Monday
